What I'm Listening To: Santa Claus Is Coming Straight To The Ghetto

RIP to the Pimp

Here's some audio from a recent Bun B interview discussing Pimp C and his the times they had together.  Seems wild but this past Saturday makes 3 years since Pimp C passed away.  Still remember that day during my Junior year of college.  This was the first time that a musician passed that I felt a connection to...but all of my friends that knew I was a UGK were talking to me like he was my brother or something lol.  I wasn't like one of the bawling MJ fans when he passed...but that day definitely had a cloud over it.  Everyone that listened to his music could feel the emotion coming through the speakers...you couldn't help but to feel him.  Big ups to Bun for keeping the UGK ship together...TRILL to the fullest.

What I'm Listening To: Isley Brothers-Voyage To Atlantis

Sorry I've been slacking on the blog posts recently...haven't really had a lot to share.  I could go in on how Cleveland fans looked pathetic when LeBron came back to town...but they already made a fool of themselves so I'll pass.  I'm on that Bud Light Lime so I'm buzzing...vibing to some tunes my Dad made me listen to when I was a kid.  Thanks Dad...you've shaped my musical tastes in the best way.

What I'm Listening To: Slum Village-Tainted

Always loved this jam...came out my freshman year of high school.  I put everything on hold when this came on Rap City...you know, when BET actually had decent programming and showed videos.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!  Just imagine...this day hundreds of years ago settlers were feeding the natives.  Then they stole their land and gave them a holiday to commemorate this jacking.  I always love this holiday...just because the family gets together and just spend good times together.  And of course....you eat yourself into a small coma...only to wake up, drive to someone else's house and do it again.

I have a lot to be thankful for...I'm thankful for being a healthy, employed young man with a loving family, great friends, and a blog to express my ignant beliefs.  I'm also thankful for my couple of followers and you who's reading this.  So thank you...I love you and make sure you tell your people you love them.

What I'm Listening To: Brothers Johnson-Strawberry Letter 23

Good music is timeless...can't count how many times I listened to this cleaning up the house growing up.  I'm so jealous of my parent's music...I'd gladly trade today's music for this.

Jim Crow v. 2.0

America's favorite minstrel is back at it again.  Flavor Flav, best known for his reality TV exploits, is expanding his ignant empire in to the realm of entrepreneurship and plans on starting fried chicken and alcohol franchises.  Yes...you read correctly...fried chicken and alcohol.  I've never been one to tell anyone how to spend their money (whether it's hard earned or not) but DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN bruh...fried chicken??  So you mean to tell me if I go to Uncle Flav's Chicken Hut (just came up with that name...only seems fitting) I can ONLY get fried chicken? Not even grilled?? C'mon son... you GOT to be kidding me!  Flavor Flav's career arc has to be the most bizarre in the history of hip hop.  He went from being the hype man for one of hip hop's most militant and anti (white) establishment groups in Public Enemy to being the mascot for every current stereotype of black men in 20+ years.  Most people don't know him for "Fight The Power"...they know him for marrying that gargantuan white chick, having 3 seasons of a show when 20 gorgeous whores throw themselves at his crusty ass, just to be dumped in 3 months (they know the game though...they're just there to get there names and asses out there) and having a litter of kids.  A black man that lusts after white women, has a bushel of hyper sexual women, and has multiple kids with multiple women, none of which he's married to...isn't that what America sees when they look at us?  Well you can add "fried chicken entrepreneur" to that list when they refer to Flavor Flav.  I guess you can't knock the hustle.

You've GOT To Be Kidding Me!

Ummmm...yea....about that Amber....

Skip to 2:20 in and prepare to have your eyes opened...is this what ladies want? Or just what her crazy ass wants?

Black Ops? Meh...

It's been about a week since the release of the newest COD game, Call of Duty: Black Ops.  This wildy popular first person shooter has is most known for its multiplayer aspect that is almost endless and has a unique quality of staying fresh (a novelty with games that are mostly known for online multiplyer).  To be quite honest, I am largely disappointed with Black Ops.  A big COD: Modern Warafare 2 fan (and Modern Warefare before that), I have a lot of issues with the new installment:

1. Graphics
Black Ops was developed by Treyarch, makers of COD:World At War (another dissapointment by many accounts) while Modern Warfare and MW2 were developed by Infinity Ward.  MW and MW2 will always stick out to me because of the realism and the graphics.  Sure the stories were lack luster but, for lack of better words, the games LOOKED great.  Now the story mode graphics in Black Ops aren't bad but the multiplayer graphics? Buttcheeks...not up to par at all.  Other players look grainy and the maps look a little dull.  And then there's Nuketown, a multiplayer map that looks like it's straight from a Looney Tunes cartoon:  the colors are almost too much for me.  They could have done a lot better with the visuals.

2. New Leveling System
Black Ops is introducing a leveling/gun acqusition system that calls for guns, perks, and pretty much anything else to be purchased.  Sounds good on paper, but doesn't really do it for me.  For starters, the first batch of weapons SUCK.  Some are pretty accurate, but they're lacking power...I thought I was shooting a BB gun half the time.  Be prepared to go knocked when you're first playing online.  You still gain XP (experience points) for getting kills, completeing challenges, and taking objectives but this is layered on top of the new purchasing system.  For example, you unlock the ABILITY to purchase a Famas at level 14, but not the actual weapon as you could before.  My biggest question is:  why have both systems?  If I have to buy the gun when I get there anyway, why not allow for the guns to be purchased regardless of level?  You better be sure you want the item you're puchasing as well, because there aren't any refunds or exchanges.  Doesn't work too well when you buy two attachments for the MP5K and are COD broke...don't ask me how I know.  One plus to the new system are the contracts, which are timed challenges you have to wager points for.  Don't succeed and you lose the points you wagered...I like this because it forces you to put your money where your mouth is.

3. Online Multiplayer
2 and 3 are very closely related but I had to seperate them so I can properly go in.  I am not a fan of the Black Ops online system thus far.  For one, the vast majority of the games I've played in have been laggy...VERY laggy.  My internet connection has been fine but the lag has been very annoying to say the least.  There have been many times when I've been shot as soon as I turn the corner, only to watch the kill cam and see that, apparently, I was around the corner for a least a second...no dice.  Secondly, there's a new map voting system that allows for players to select the same map (i.e. running it back).  I actually liked that option...until I playerd Nuketown (the new fan favorite, apparently) 5 times in a row.  Lastly, the kill streaks seem to be a little unbalanced.  A goal of Treyarch was to make it so the new kill streaks were as over powered as they were in MW2...but they didnt do much better this time around.  Yeah, the nuke's gone, but it only takes 3 kills for the remote controlled car with explosives?  That's less than a predator missle.  The attack dogs wrecked shop one game I was in (thankfully, I was on that guy's team) which would make them the best one IMO.  The other ones just seemed lazy..what's the difference between a chopper gunner and a gunship anyway? Just seems like they could have done a little better.

Everything's not bad about Black Ops:  the campaign mode is definitely superior to MW/MW2.  Top shelf voice acting (including Ice Cube...YAY-YAY!!!) and a story with multiple plot twists kept me hooked.  Overall, I would have to say its not a bad game...I just have a lot of beefs with it. Black Ops rode the coatails of MW2 but failed to deliver in many aspects.  But, of course, Activision doesn't care since they saw the first day sales figures.  They're plan is to release a new game every year (around November) and that's too sad:  they're going to canibalize their franchise and people are going to get tired of the same game (essentially) just repackaged with a different name (and before you say anything...this is NOT what Madden does.  Ok maybe they do...but SO??).  MW2 had another good year of multiplayer easy...glad I kept my copy for 360.

Hey Grambling? F*ck Yo Couch!

Apparently the students at Grambling don't like Charlie Murphy...as evidenced my this video from their comedy show.  Some of his jokes fell flat...and the rest is almost too good for Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories.  I'm a Charlie Murphy fan and even though I don't agree with what he did...the execution is epic and will go down as one of my favorite "eff you" moments ever.  Not only did he give the money back...he told them exactly how he was feeling when he did it.  This is 2nd only to the sight of Rick James grinding his dirty cowboy boots in Eddie's couch.

Vote or Die!

Today's election day...time for everyone to go out there to rock the vote! No matter what your politics are or who you're voting for, this is probably one of the most important midterm elections in recent history. If you lean Democratic then it's important to get out there and make sure that all the progress of the last two years isn't undone. If you lean Republican, you're probably not reading my blog right now...so there. The local and state races are important, so make sure you read up on the candidates and enter the polls as an informed voter. If you're in North Carolina and you don't know where you're polling place is you can find out here. Make sure you make your voice is heard!

Antoine Dodson MUST DIE!

The internet's favorite rape foiler is riding his 15 minutes of fame (PAUSE) like it's no one's business. As if if his BET Awards "performance" wasn't embarrassing enough (and that's saying a lot because...you know it came on BET) he's has this commercial for a sex offender tracker app. Mr./Ms. Dodson, in my opinion, has supplanted Flavor Flav as the most coontastic person in America. The rise of African-Americans in the country is being further stunted from this buffoonery. HE MUST BE STOPPED!!

What Do Women REALLY Want?

This is another thought provoking video from XtraNormal. I don't know who makes these but they're on point. This one speaks to the difference between what women SAY they want and what women demonstrate they want. Ladies, whether you want to admit or not, what you say you want and what you actually go for is much different. You can't say things like "There aren't any good black men out there" and go for a thug dude. There are plenty of good guys out here...so either push the thugs to the side and stop complaining OR practice what you preach. Simple thoughts from a simple man...

When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong-Juan Williams

Columnist and (now former) NPR personality Juan Williams is in hot water after some comments made the other day on Fox News.  I always characterized Williams as the only guy that had some sense on Fox News...guess I'll have to take that back now.  On The O'Reily Factor (SN:  FUCK BILL O'REILY!! Sorry..had to get that off my chest) Williams made a comment about Muslims on planes...the video contains the inflammatory comments.

A couple of thoughts...for starters, whenever someone has to preface their statement with "I'm not *insert prejudiced stance* but..."...that means "Hey I'm about say something that you should judge me on, but don't."  Just because you've written books about the Civil Rights Movement doesn't give you a free pass to bash another group of people Mr. Williams.  But more importantly, I'm not scared of the person in the Muslim garb on the plane...I'm scared of the dude with the box cutter or knife trying to hijack the plane.  He can be of any race or religion...I'm going after the guy that's trying do harm to me period.  A truck full of country white boys scares me as much as a group of thugs walking up to me in an unfamiliar neighborhood...not because I'm a racist or an Uncle Ruckus, but because I have survival instincts.  A young Arabic man in traditional Muslim garb doesn't scare me unless he's holding an RPG.  I really hate the way that Muslims are targeted in post 9-11 America...not only because of the the racists venom that's being spread but because I'm so afraid that there's gonna be a situation where there's an attack perpetrated my people that don't look like the "traditional terrorists".

During the NY Gubernatorial debate the world was introduced to Mr. Jimmy McMillan and the platform of the Rent Is Too Damn High Party. The Black Men-Women Disconnect

I'm not sure who made this video....but apparently this has some discussion boards on fire.  The woman is pretty much telling the man what her standards are...which sounds eerily similar to many conversations I've had with women about relationships.  There's not a problem with being strong and wanting a certain man (as long as those demands aren't purely financial and physically superficial) but ladies you have to understand that a lot of what you say is confusing.  To a man, if you're talking all this noise about how you're independent and don't need a man for anything, then don't look to me to take you out or anything.  You can't assault a man's masculinity (and yes, the ability to provide is key to a man feeling like a man) with the independent talk...but then want him to be like a man when its convenient for you.  If you don't need a man to validate you as a woman, then don't go bashing men as soft and not worthy just because you're single.  A man isn't gonna be with a woman that's going to constantly emasculate him.  If you don't need a man physically, then don't get mad because you haven't felt a man's touch in a WHILE.  I know I may have made some women mad with this...don't judge me, I'm just commenting on the world as I see it.  Just can't have your cake and eat it to....thoughts from a simple man with a blog.

Two short letters:

Dear NC State Football team,
I know the name "Cardiac Pack" rhymes, but it's not good for the health of your fans.  For this alum's sake, please decide whether or not you're gonna be a solid team that plays solid defense and have a explosive offense or a team that loses leads late and take L's from teams you're better than.  You're cooperation in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Game Review-Spider Man:Shattered Dimensions

I recently rented Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions on one of my days off (I was REALLY bored; found my Blockbuster card in my wallet and the light bulb went off).  This game caught my attention when I first heard it was coming out.  I normally don't my games that I don't buy games that I can't get re-plays out of (which pretty much limits my library to sports games and 1st person shooters)...and this game is another example of why.  The campaign was fairly short and not all that difficult.  At times it was a little glitchy, but overall the game was pretty solid.

The story goes a little something like this:  Mysterio was trying to steal the Table of Order and Chaos to...you know, do evil things with it.  Spider-Man, in his attempt to stop him, shattered the tablet.  Pieces of the tablet were scattered throughout 4 dimensions.  Madame Web shows up and helps Spider-Man to find the pieces and reassemble the tablet.  She gets the help of four Spider-Men from the Amazing (the "regular" one), Ultimate (black suit), 2099, and Noir dimensions.  As you go through the game, each Spider-Man uses their own abilities to defeat the enemies of their dimensions to get back a piece of the tablet.  One big plot flaw that I noticed was:  how did each enemy know what the tablet was and what it could do?  Did Mysterio send a bad guy memo out?  Seemed a little convenient that bad guys in every universe found the rock and knew what to do with it.

The game play was pretty decent:  each Spider-Man had his own abilities and played very differently.  The boss battles were epic...many times you had to fight them twice: before and after the used a piece of the tablet (the tablet augmented their abilities).  After a round of studying their attacks they were all pretty easy to defeat.  The in-game achievements made the game fun...these gave you "Spider Essence" points that let you upgrade your character and combat moves.  My biggest beefs were the camera and the glitches.  Spider-Man is such a agile character that its hard for the camera to keep up.  Sometimes I found myself getting dizzy while I was dodging a large group of enemies.  The game seemed to be very glitchy...there were a couple of times where I got "stuck" in the level...both times I had to go back to the last checkpoint.  Very annoying if you're trying to make progress through a difficult part of the level.

I will admit that I'm not a big Spider-Man fan, but seeing the different universes piqued my interest...not afraid to admit that I'm gonna find some digital comics to read.  The Noir universe, set in the 1930s, is the one that I'm most interested in.  Time to hit the internets to see if I can find some comics to read.  The game was ok...a good rent but not anything you would want to shell out $60 for.  If you have some days off and want something to do...I'd recommend you give this one a try.

What I'm Listening To: Slow It Down-Little Brother

For those of you all that have been sleeping on Little Brother, please jump off the tallest building right now.  The 3rd verse of this song is gospel...big ups to Phonte (or as Statik says, my doppelganger) for keeping it real.  I know some women might think its selfish...but it's the truth.  Vibe with it...

Well...He Might Be On To Something...

I first want to start off by saying this:  I do not condone the treatment of women as if they are objects or in any manner that dehumanizes them.  My thoughts are the truth as I see it...suffice it to say this: don't judge me.

A major firestorm going on in the NFL is about what happened in the NY Jets locker room last week.  TV Azteca reporter Ines Sainz was interviewing Mark Sanchez (who is of Mexican heritage) in the locker room when she was apparently harassed by some of the other players in the locker room.  Cat calls, comments...all the things that (realistically) can be expected from a room full of athletes that just got finished with a practice.  Woman's rights groups, female journalists, and the media as whole went into a mini-frenzy about women's rights and how the female reporter-naked male athletes dymanic should be in the locker room.  When Clinton Portis (who is more known for crazy outfits like this and this) was asked about this situation, he gave a real answer:

"I think you put women reporters in the locker room in position to see guys walking around naked, and you sit in the locker room with 53 guys, and all of the sudden you see a nice woman in the locker room. I think men are going to tend to turn and look and want to say something to that woman

And I mean, you put a woman and you give her a choice of 53 athletes, somebody got to be appealing to her. You know, somebody got to spark her interest, or she's gonna want somebody. I don't know what kind of woman won't, if you get to go and look at 53 men's packages. And you're just sitting here, saying 'Oh, none of this is attractive to me.' I know you're doing a job, but at the same time, the same way I'm gonna cut my eye if I see somebody worth talking to, I'm sure they do the same thing."

As a public figure, there's no way you can say that publicly.  It's not a good look for a PR standpoint...and it comes across as ignorant and chauvinistic.  But since I'm not a professional athlete, I can keep it 100:  nothing in that statement is false.  Of course she's not going to be looking for a hot date or a hook up, but you would be naive to think that she didn't have any thoughts the guys in that locker room.  And on the flip side...she's a reporter that has been known to market herself in a sexual manner.  Even to be more simple than that...she's sexy as hell.  I work at a call center...and if she came in and walked around I'm saying something about her.  You can't market yourself as a sex symbol but get mad when people look at you in a sexual manner.  To reiterate:  I do not think that the Jets' players appropriately or Portis' comments should have been made..but he has a point.

Are You Ready For Some Football??

Yesterday was the first Sunday of the NFL season...football is finally back!!  Of course I was working on the plantation yesterday so I couldn't watch all of the games that I wanted....but any football is better than no football.  For those of you all that did not know...I'm a die hard Falcons fan...if/when they win the Super Bowl I'm doing the Dirty Bird with Jamal Anderson...as soon as I find him.  Since I'm a big Madden-head I also root for the teams that I play with, the Bengals and the Titans.  With the Bengals and Falcons losing in the early games it's safe to say that I was salty going in to work.  Glad to see Mike Vick back to his dazzling ways...and it's always great to see the Cowboys lose (sorry Wise lol).  The Raven-Jets game should be a good one as well...at least I'll catch some of the Chargers/Chiefs when I get off.  For my Super Bowl picks...I have Green Bay beating Cincinnati.  As long as the Packers' offensive line holds up they're the best team in the NFC....and even with the Bengals getting beat yesterday I still think they have one of the best defenses in the league, matched with a potentially explosive offense.  But then again...I HOPE my Falcons take it home this year...it's possible.

What I'm Listening To: Girl U Know-Scarface

This joint is from Scarface's 2007 album MADE.  You know how a song comes along at the right time that speaks to your situation?  Well this is definitely one for me....I've always like Scarface's way of telling it like it is and the third verse of this song is like relationship gospel (no blasphemy).  Not only did this song come along at the right time in my life, but it also marked the same year that Beneath Tha Beat began to form into what it is today.  I first heard this song chilling with Statik and Lyfe in the studio....he kept in rotation damn near all semester. Shoutout to the rest of the BTB crew...them boys got some big things coming soon so watch out

Unforgivable?

I was at work the other night and I came across this very well written article on ESPN.com.  To make a long story short...this guy named Tony Washington is having a hard time making it to the NFL, not because he lacks the physical abilities, but because he is a registered sex offender.  Mr. Washington had a rough childhood (absentee parents, moved frequently, rough neighborhood, etc.)...and made a horrible choice when he had consensual sex with his biological sister.  So now teams are very scared to sign him...because of the media circus that would follow the team, which is completely understandable.  One of my co-workers has a very different opinion that I do about Mr. Washington's current situation.  He think that he's a total pervert that shouldn't have a chance to do anything, let alone play in the NFL.  I see it a little differently, but let me start off by saying this:  I think incest is sick, foul, and just bad (couldn't think of any other adjectives).  But there have been instances where current NFL players have done worse (in my opinion) and have come back to play on Sundays.  Leonard Little and Donte' Stallworth killed men while drunk driving, served less jail time (sidenote: this may show my ignorance to the topic, but I honestly did not know that incest was illegal until I read this article) and came back to play.  Mike Vick (who I still support) bank rolled a criminal enterprise...hell Ben Roethelisburger was accused of rape twice and he's gonna come back this season.  If America is supposed to be the land of second chances, and you let these guys have them...then why not let Tony Washington come in?  I don't like it when people write off people from troubled backgrounds for doing wrong...it's very easy for us to say they shouldn't have done it when we came from a stable household.  The only way we found out something was wrong was when someone told/showed us.  I hope Mr. Washington finds his way onto a NFL roster...he's already paid enough.

Hypocrisy of our Democracy

This is Keith Olberman going in on the proposed "mosque" down the street from Ground Zero in Manhattan.  I know I posted something about this earlier this week...but this topic really gets to me.

In this post 9/11 America I really hate that "Muslim" and "Islam" have become bad words in society.  Yes, there are some radical elements wish harm on us that happen to be Muslims...but people have taken the religion and transformed it to this scary American hating belief that anyone that is associated with it is evil.  Maybe...juuuust maybe....the reason they hate us is because we're jacking their land of oil and blowing it to smithereens.  It's getting harder and harder to listen to the talking heads on the news networks when any subject dealing with terrorism is related.  Note: terrorist does not equal Muslim.  The KKK is a Christian based terror group...remember that.

This debate about the community center infuriates me even more.  Mainly because it's not going to be a mosque...just a community center.  Even more, its not across the street from  Ground Zero...try some blocks down the street.  The backers of the center shouldn't be subject to any more scrutiny than if it was a Christian center...or a Jewish center...or hell if it didn't have a religious affiliation.  But using the logic of the people that are against it..you might as well close every Islamic center in Manhattan.  What happened to freedom of religion?  People of any religion should be able to practice whatever, whenever.  Death to using fear tactics to force racist and xenophobic policies!

But who listens to me?  I'm just an angry black man with a blog...

Wrap It Up...Damn!

This is NY Jets CB Antonio Cromartie showing love to his 8 kids (w/ 6 mothers).  Yes, you read that right...8 kids.  Not 4 kids and 4 dogs....but 8 human babies.  The Jets actually gave him a advance on his salary to pay back child support.  He isn't the only NFL player like this...ex NFL RB Travis Henry had 9 children with 9 mothers.  Are these guys allergic to latex?  With all that money you would have think they would have got the ladies some Plan B or something...oh well.  Can't say too much if they're in the lives of their children....but then again how can you be a full fledged daddy to 8 kids?

Coontastic: Four Lokos Anthem

This is what happens when you give niggas a video camera and the internet.  But I will admit...that Four Lokos is a mighty beverage.

What I'm Listening To: Lloyd feat. Mystikal-Set Me Free

Love the beat on this joint...glad to see Mystikal back on the scene.  Saw this joint a couple of months ago...been rocking to it.   Mystikal is one of my favorite artists I grew up to....UH HUUUUH!!!  Anyone else jamming to this?

I'm Back/The 252=My Lazarus Pit

Well...I'm finally back on my JO.  I've been slacking on my blogging lately...had a lot on my plate and even more on my mind.  Don't wanna get in to the particulars (mainly, because most of you don't give a damn) but me and my girlfriend of over 2 years recently broke up.  Not that I'm overly sad and down, but its been real hard to adjust without someone being there that you're used to.  That's been the main reason for my mini-hiatus...nothing that I can't deal with though.  In other news, my baby brother just got back from spreading our ignant ways up in NYC this summer.  He received and accepted an offer from a major investment bank so he's already good for graduation.  Couldn't be any prouder...this is gonna make his last year at Duke the most ignant year ever seen on a college campus. Anything less would be uncivilized.

But what else have I been up to?  Took a trip to the 252 on my days off.  Very rejuvenating:  because I was juventated, lost it, then got juvenated again.  Saw my Moms and Papa Dukes...caught up with a lot of high school friends too.  I think I'm gonna make the trips more often...I feel like I've lost touch with my family and close friends from high school.  At the very least, I have to make some trips down for Thirsty Thursdays at Buffalo Wild Wings with the fellas.

I'm making this promise to my 1 or 2 readers that I've amassed so far:  I won't go this long without posting.  I would say that I felt like I let someone down...but...I don't have a lot of readers yet.  Until next time...

What I'm Listening To: Again-John Legend

Sorry been slacking on my posting lately...been going through some stuff over the past couple of days.  One of my favorite John Legend songs.  The lyrics say enough....*Forrest Gump voice* that's all I have to say about that.

What I'm Listening To: Rich Boy-Let's Get This Paper

A deep jam from Rich Boy's self titled debut album.  Definitely a solid track...keeps it real and actually speaks on some world events (for those who think all Southern artists aren't aware).  Rich Boy is definitely one of my favorite artists...patiently waiting for another mixtape like "Bigger Than The Mayor."

"Now tell me how I'm supposed to feel when police killing kids..."

Why So Sensitive?: Waka Flocka and Gucci Mane

This is Waka Flocka's new song entitled "Fuk Dis Industry."  Please don't waste your time....it's not worth listening to.  I listen to a lot of music, and I'm not gonna lie I listen to Gucci Mane.  Say what you want to about his lyrics, but the production is normally there so you have to take it for what it's worth.  I listen to Waka if I'm working out because it gets me hyped...if there's a Waka song when I'm getting in a fight I'm going to come out on top.  I think we can all agree, however, that OJ Tha Juiceman has to be worst rapper alive...the homey Eli Porter runs circles around him.  The main reason he recorded this track was in response Gucci Mane dropping his mother as his manager.  Even though he says there's not a beef, Waka has said that the relationship between him and Gucci is done.  I don't know the circumstances behind the split, but from the outside looking in it seems to be about business.  Gucci is on his way to be a real big star and make some serious money (hate him or love him)...he needs someone with that kind of experience and connections.  I'm all for loyalty in all facets of life, but sometimes you have to make the best decision for you.  Gucci doesn't want to talk about it either...he walked out of an interview when he was asked about the situation.  Waka most definitely still has that street mentality...but he has to understand that this is a business.  If you burn bridges every time you think someone has slighted you ...you'd be an island.  The lesson here is:  you have to separate business and personal or every business move made is going to have a profound affect on the personal side.

What I'm Listening To: Stakes is High-De La Soul

One of my favorite songs...tight beat and real lyrics.  What happened to hip-hop?

"That's why their native tongues have officially been reinstated..."

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Maddenoliday is upon us!  For those who are unfamiliar, Maddenoliday is the glorious day on Dub's calendar when the newest edition of Madden comes out in stores.  Throughout college, me and the Petty Coalition stood in line, braving humid college nights and GameStop geeks just so we can play Madden and talk shit all night.  This time was a solo adventure but still ignant nevertheless.  This year I'm rolling with the Cincinnati Bengals and the Tennessee Titans.  Cincy is going to be a more well rounded team on both sides of the ball, while it's gonna be all about the running game for me with the Titans.  This year's biggest "innovation" is called GameFlow.  When turned on, the computer selects the play to run based on the situation (i.e. down and distance, time left in game), allowing you to focus on execution.  The main goal of this is to shorten the game time.  Personally, I'm not with it...I've been picking my plays since Madden 99 and I'm doing to continue to do so.  Played a couple of games last night...the feel of the game is way different.  The player motion takes momentum and angle into account on every play....meaning if you take a bad angle on the ball carrier you're gonna be left in the dust.  The new kicking meter is also going to take some getting used to...the lag online cause me to miss an extra point O_o.  The learning curve is going to be steep, but I like the feel of this Madden already.  I copped this year's version on PS3...hit me up if you wanna run a match.  I'm always looking for different competetion...because playing the computer all the time gets boring (PSN-Dubnificent).

When Keeping Up w/ The Kardashians Goes Wrong

This a video of Brian Pumper *pause*, the male porn star and aspiring *whack ass* rapper that did a scene with Montana Fishburne aka Laurence Fishburne's daughter, discussing her booty spots (haven't seen the tape but apparently she has some cheetah spots on her ass) and how he didn't exploit her.  Of course he didn't exploit her; all he did was screw her on camera so he can get his face more out there.  Montana, seeing Kim Kardashian (the only fine Kardashian IMO) rise to fame because of her sex tape with Ray J, thought she should follow suit.  I guess this is what the world has come to *no pun intended*, girls wanting to get screwed on camera so people can pay more attention to them.  She's definitely a member of Team LowSelfEsteem.  This is exactly why I am deathly afraid of having a daughter: if your daughter does porn, YOU HAVE FAILED AS A FATHER.  Sorry Morpheus, but the truth is the truth though.  The internet has been buzzing for a day or so about this...a female porn star, Lethal Lips, has a hilarious interview outing Brian as a punk on set (sidenote: it's always amused me to hear women in porn talk about how they're "going to work." We all know they're about to have some outrageous sex, do some raunchy stuff, and go home to their man LMAO).  What ever pays the bills...it is a recession.

What I'm Listening To: I Left It Wet For You-UGK

This is one of my favorite songs from my all-time favorite group. UGK are word smiths and storytellers...and this is a fine example of such.  I'll make sure to have a post about them a little later.  Truth be told...it took me a couple of listens to really get it (I'm slow...I know) but that made me like the song even more.  RIP to Pimp C...and cop Bun B's "Trill OG" if you already haven't...here's the homey DJ Wise's review of the album that got 5 mics from The Source.  It's a solid album...but a 5 mic album is classic and I don't think it qualifies.  But these are thoughts from a critical fan...it's still UGK for life.

"I left it wet for ya nigga..."

Team BlackBerry: Where there's...not an app for that

CNN.com: BlackBerry Article

Here's a good CNN.com article about BlackBerry and why, even though they have the largest market share in the US smartphone market, they lag behind the iPhone and Android in fun factor.  Don't get me wrong...I'm a member of Team BlackBerry and I'm definitely content with my phone (hit me up for my BBM pin if you want) but the lack of apps is annoying.  I have a friend with an iPhone and he has an app for everything.  Although most of them are for dumb shit, it doesn't matter...that's why we all buy SMARTphones.  Sending a picture of the crazy ass person in Wal-Mart doesn't have the same feel on a BlackBerry (but it can be done).  RIM definitely has the business game down pat...but step up the fun factor!!!

Major Buggage: Emmitt Smith's Hall of Fame Induction

Tonight on ESPN (7pm EST) the 2010 class will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  This has been regarded by some as one of the best classes.  This group will include Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson, Dick LeBeau, Floyd Little, John Randle, Jerry Rice, and Emmitt Smith.  Not only does this class include some of the best defensive talents in Randle and LeBeau, but hands down the most hilarious TV commentator ever.  Emmitt Smith was a great running back and seems like a great person, but its quite obvious he put the Athlete-Student instead of a Student-Athlete.  As a matter of fact, when it came to English he was just a Athlete.  It made for great TV....hearing him describe the "Rice of Passage" and teams getting "blowed out." Major buggage all around.  Check the vid...if I didn't have to work tonight I'd be glued in front of a TV taking it in.  I need to stop being cheap and spring for a DVR.

What I'm Listening To: Neck Uv Da Woods-Mystikal feat. Outkast

One of my favorite songs...this jam came out when I was in 6th grade.  I got too hyped when this came on BET/MTV...you know back when they actually showed music videos.  Andre's verse in this song is one of my favorites from him

"Andre 3000 the year to fear is already here..."

For Starters...

This is my first time doing the blog thing.  The term is so ubiquitous that I almost forgot what it was...

ANYWAYS...

I want to welcome everyone that's reading this to Dub's blog.  Thank you for reading this post during your (not so) busy day.  There's a lot of porn that could have been watched...but the fact that you chose to read this makes me feel like I accomplished something.  My number 1 goal is actually putting stuff up here that people want to read....not just one of those blogs that people just have to make themselves important...only to realize that 2 people read it O_o.  Those who know me personally say I have a "wild" mind...just thoughts and shit everywhere.  I like to laugh...so there's gonna be a good dose of silly videos and my commentary on the world as I see it through my 22 year old warped ass lens.  I'm a heavy Twitter user, but I've found the 140 characters doesn't allow me to convey all of my ignace (yes...that's a word).  So to all that read this, do me one favor: bear with ya boy.  If you like something I say? Comment! If you don't like something I say? Comment! I'm tryna get better at this thing...so help me out.  So, without further ado, welcome to my world...

Wait....that sounded stupid...just read it...hope you like it
